Chaos on our roads

George Kutty, Padam Lala Rd, Namadi Heights, Suva
Thursday, December 07, 2017

I write again to hopefully raise the attention of our road regulators; the LTA so that they can step in to stop this unnecessary chaos on our roads before a disaster happens in Suva.

No one should be forced to wake up one to two hours early from their normal slumber just so that they can make it to work on time.

This should not happen at all.

Unfortunately I believe because of our poorly planned roadworks, most commuters are forced to rise earlier than usual so that they can make it to work on time to avoid being penalised or having their pay docked.

The commuters or everyday grassroots workers who rise earlier than usual will reach their workplaces frustrated, angry and with high blood pressure, will not be able to work or function properly at work.

I believe all this will lead to a downturn in productivity, poor performances and a rise in stress levels.

Not good at all for the economy and the country as a whole.

In the past all roadworks were done in stages. Where is this new FRA CEO from and has he even driven around to see the chaos?

In the meantime all the best to our 7s brigade at the World Rugby Cape Town 7s this weekend and Team Fiji at the Vanuatu Mini Games.

Go Fiji, go.
