Lautoka calls for fans' support

LAUTOKA Blues goalkeeper Beniamino Mateinaqara is urging the fans to turn out in huge numbers and support the team in their friendly games against the touring Wellington side.

He said the presence of the fans would inspire the players to play their hearts out.

Lautoka will be playing without their national reps who are in Vanuatu for the Pacific Mini Games but Mateinaqara said the side would give the touring side a good run for their money.

These players include Dave Radregai, Kavaia Rawaqa, Christopher Wasasala and Kolinio Sivoki.

"We would love the fans to come in huge numbers and cheer on the boys," said Mateinaqara.

"Team Wellington is a good team and this is a good chance for these boys to feel the taste of playing in the O'League.

"Even though some of the players are in Vanuatu but I believe there are some capable replacements for the game."

The former national rep said the game would be an opportune time for the fans to witness a preview of the O'League games.

Mateinaqara said the games would be a perfect buildup for the players to gauge their standard against one of the top teams in the competition.

"This is a good buildup for the boys even though there are some players in the national team.

"We have been training hard and combined well at training —— and we will give our best to prove our worth."

Mateinaqara said he was honoured top represent Lautoka as this would be his fourth year in the O'League championship.

The first game will be held at Lautoka's Churchill Park tomorrow at 7pm with the last game to be held on Sunday.
