AFTER a slow start in the first quarter, the Tokatoka Resort in Nadi celebrated the end of a successful year at its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Tuesday.

Resort general manager Nasoni Tamani said the remarkable turnaround was the result of a combination of things.

"We were blessed by the hand of God and we just kept improving our product and increasing our service delivery and it paid off for us with the past three quarters delivering very strong results," he said.

"And I take my hat off to my management team and staff for the outstanding performance they put in to make Tokatoka such a sought after property."

Mr Tamani said he was blessed to have a team that was committed to ensuring that guests to the resort enjoyed the best possible experience.

Chief guest at the tree lighting event, director of the Institute for Mission and Research at the Pacific Theological College Aisake Casimira said Christmas was more than a celebration of good times and feasting.

"It is a time that we gather together to mark the birth of a child who became the Christian Saviour Jesus Christ," he said.

About 50 guests and staff participated in the ceremony.
