Focus turns to Africa

JOSUA VICI believes the Fiji Airways Fiji Mens's 7s team can win the Cape Town 7s in South Africa this weekend.

Vici, who signed a three-year deal with Houston Strikers club in the United States, said he knew how it felt when you were pressured to deliver your best in any HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournament.

"What the boys need right now are our prayers and support especially the new players," he said.

"I know how it feels when players are being pressured, but what the fans don't know is the hard work these players put in.

"We have different style of playing 7s, but at the end of the day we must support our players."

The Niudua, Naceva, Kadavu lad is adapting well at his new club along with former national captain Osea Kolinisau.

"We're just having a feel on what is expected from us switching from 7s to 15s is not a big challenge because we both have had experience playing union but at the end of the day is just rugby.

"We're going on to the pre-season competition and everything will come in to place when we begin our league which starts in January."

Vici has urged his fellow players that nothing is impossible if you believe in what you do.

"The players need to work hard in their support system. There were some areas where Jasa Veremalua broke the opponents defence and he needed the support, but the players were still behind. Overall their defence was great, I love watching our gladiators play."
