THE Fiji Hotel Workers Volleyball Association looks forward to a more competitive game come next year.

This is after they successfully finished with their annual volleyball tournament at Subrail Park in Labasa over the weekend.

The Sheraton Hotel won the mixed volleyball title against Shangri-La's while the Ratu Kini dream team of Mana Island won the men's title.

Fiji Hotel Workers Volleyball Association president Jack Stark said he was delighted with the overall participation made by the hoteliers.

"This year's competition is quiet tough with few new teams that joined in but we still need all the hotels around Fiji to join in the tournament," he said.

Stark said the main objective of the tournament was to get the hoteliers together.

"This is a way to get them together and socialise and share ideas.

"The hotels in the North have responded well even though Labasa did not bring in their staff as they have short of staff but we're glad that staff of Namale, Koro Sun, and Laucala and even up to Vatu Vara could be here with us."

Stark said they had new event that goes first before the day of the tournament and that was a choir competition and a soli competition.

"We managed to raise $1200 and it was given to the Nasea Methodist Church," he said.

"Next year's tournament will be in Viti Levu and most probably in Nadi, but that will be determined later in our next meeting and I advise all other hotels that are not here today to join in next year as tourism is the backbone of Fiji and since we all work in the tourism industry we need to share the Bula spirit throughout Fiji."

Stark also thanked the sponsors Fiji Hotel Tourism Association, Fiji Water, Coca Cola Amatil, Jack's Fiji, Prouds and Tappoos.
