GOLF Fiji will be banking on the two top amateur players Abid Hussain and Olaf Allen Jr to vie for the individual gold medal during the Pacific Mini Games.

Hussain and Allen Jr are the only local players who have a world amateur ranking.

Hussain is ranked 2031 while Allen Jr is ranked 4043.

The duo are accompanied by juniors Ryan Kumar and Won Woo Hwang in the men's division.

Hussain is the in-form player having won the Vanua Levu Open, Nadi Open, Ba Open and Lautoka Open titles this season.

He also has had a feel of the Port Vila Golf and Country Club Course having participated at the Vanuatu Open earlier this year.

Golf Fiji vice-president and treasurer Munesh Prasad said Allen Jr and Hussain had a lot of experience.

Prasad said it would be a good exposure for youngsters Ryan and Hwang.

"We expect a lot from Abid and Olaf," Prasad said.

"The players have been practising daily. Olaf was Fiji's best finisher at the Nomura Cup in Malaysia last month. Abid has played at the Port Vila course and knows what it is like.

"For the team we are expecting a top three finish."
