Fighters ready for boxing campaign

Pravin Narain
Friday, December 01, 2017

FIJI boxing coach to the Pacific Mini Games, Pauliasi Ratu is confident of a good outing in Vanuatu next week.

He said our boxers looked sharp and ready to fight after training for a long time for the games.

"We have a better chance to win gold this time," Ratu said.

"There are a lot of talents in the team. We are taking a thoroughly prepared team to Vanuatu which could win gold medals for Fiji and make the country proud."

Fiji's top boxer and Olympian Winston Hill is the top bet to win a gold medal.

The squad includes Jone Koroilagilagi, Josefa Ravudi Jr, Nemani Rokobuli, Cena Ruata and Pauliasi Ratu Jr.

"In 2015 we did not prepare well since we could not get enough time, but this time we are better prepared and better equipped," he added.

"The boxers are focused."

The team departs for Vanuatu today.
