Gamel: Give best

VODAFONE Fiji football coach Christophe Gamel has called on his players to give their best during the 2017 Pacific Mini Games which starts next Monday in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Gamel was impressed with the Team Fiji assembly last Saturday at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva.

"I have learned a lot of good things and I wish all the sports organisations the best in their competition," Gamel said.

"The players need to stand up and deliver for the nation.

"We have put in a new mental approach for the players and I expect them to give their all in the competition. I hope the spirit will be high in every match the team plays."

Gamel said other competing teams posed a threat to Fiji.

"Vanuatu lost to Estonia 1-0 and it shows how good they are. They are a very good team which plays very offensive football and we are not at that level," he said.

"We are going there to win a gold medal. I will be missing a number of the player because there was a problem with the system and we could not register players as it happens at times. My job is to find the solution and make the players competitive."

The team departs today.
