Tennis to wrap up season

TENNIS Fiji is rounding its 2017 season with a three-day junior training camp in Lautoka.

The camp has attracted 50 players from around the country.

Tennis Fiji is utilising International Tennis Federation's 'Play and Stay' campaign which aims to increase participation worldwide by improving the way children are introduced to the sport.

Training camp director and Tennis Fiji secretary Sachin Reddy said the campaign promoted playing on smaller courts with slower red, orange and green balls.

"This gives participants more time and control so they can serve, rally, and score from the first lesson on courts that are sized to fit their bodies," Reddy said.

"Participants are aged between seven to 18 years.

"It is promising to see children from different schools participating. This is our end of the year program."

The training camp started on Monday and ends with a tournament format today.
