AUSTRALIAN Football League (AFL) Fiji will be hosting the Oceania Cup for 2017 at Albert Park, Suva next week.

The competition sees teams from around the South Pacific compete in the under-15 level for the Oceania title.

This year we will see teams from Nauru, Vanuatu and two teams from Australia (including an indigenous side) playing in Fiji.

AFL Fiji coach and development officer Simon Highfield said after the tournament, they would be selecting a representative side to travel to Australia early next year to play against the best in Australia.

"Team Fiji is gearing up and training this week at 10am every day at Albert Park," he said.

"We want to make sure we would welcome the attention and awareness for both our national side and the tournament itself," he said.

"Much like last year, we would welcome our supporters to come down every day of the tournament and help cheer the players to help spread the growing word of AFL across Fiji.

"It is not possible to continue our successful push without your help, and for that we will be forever grateful."

The Oceania Cup begins next Monday, December 4 until December 14 with Test matches against Australia rounding up the week and a half tournament.
