NADI-BASED swimmer, Troy Maivusaroko is ready to take on the challenge in the 2017 Pacific School Games in Adelaide, Australia, next week.

The 18-year-old Swami Vivekananda College (SVC) student said this was his second year participating in the annual tournament.

"I've been swimming since 2006 and my family has been my source of inspiration and motivation. To be able to represent my country is a great opportunity to test myself out and see where I stand against my competitors," he said.

"Majority of the swimmers here participated in the 2015 tournament and we know the kind of challenges and the competition that they will provide to us, especially the Australians."

Meanwhile, Eden Waqainabete, 9, is among debutantes in the tour.

"I started competing when I was seven years old and what I love about swimming is that it makes me happy, takes all my anger out and I feel free when I am in the water," she said.

"This is the first time for me to represent my country and I am happy and excited to participate. I know there will be a lot of competition and I am looking forward to a very successful seven days of swimming."

The student of International School Nadi will be turning 10 in a few days and she hopes to win a medal which will be a perfect birthday gift.

Both swimmers are members of the Barracuda Swimming Club in Nadi.
