CHRISTMAS came early for five Nadi schools when Radisson Blu Resort Fiji wrapped up the year-long adopt a school program with Santa surprising students with candy, projectors and laptops before the last week of the third term.

The schools that received the gifts included Maharishi Sanatan Primary, Votualevu College, Meigunyah Muslim Primary, Nawaka District and Mulomulo Secondary.

Since establishing the Adopt-A-School program in 2012, the resort has given more than $400,000 given by guests to 30 local schools.

The funds have been used to install 650 computers, distribute more than 80,000 books and helped set up 26 libraries.

The assistance were made possible through strategic planning by the resort's responsible business committee.

"The resort is very proud to be benchmarked on an international level having won the Responsible Business Award in 2014 and 2016 by Carlson Rezidor Group Asia Pacific," said general manager Gerard Knight.

"Through the Adopt-A-School program we have worked hard to have a positive impact on the educational facilities in local schools and will continue to try and help elevate facilities to assist learning within our local community."
