Elder set for Pacific Mini Games campaign

THREE-TIME Olympian Robert Elder will be Fiji's top gold medal prospect in the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

Elder had been the top contender for the medal and had been training in Sydney, Australia.

"It would have been awesome if we have a world ranking competition as Pacific archers find it hard to raise funds to go to Europe," Elder said.

"In Europe, there are competitions which are of world ranking event.

"I would rate Pacific Mini Games as four out of 10. We have to attend the ranking competitions to improve our world ranking."

Fiji will be represented by Elder along with Lisa and Fred Leota during the competition.

"I am also looking for a sponsor for the 2020 Olympic Games which will be held in Tokyo, Japan," he added. I also have plans to go to New Zealand Nationals in January, but all depends on the funding."

The Pacific Mini Games will be held from December 4-15 in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
