TONGA rugby under-20 captain Sailosi Ju Vea is optimistic of his team's chances against the Vodafone Fiji U20 in their rugby encounter at Lautoka's Churchill Park this afternoon.

He said the team expected tough and physical battle from the Fijians during their two matches in Fiji.

Vea said the players had set their target of beating the Fijians on their home turf.

"We are looking forward to a big game and need to work together as a unit to beat the Fijians," said Vea.

"I have faith in my players and we are going to give Fiji a good test."

Prop forward Lisiate Sole said they expected the Fijians to be ruthless in defence and lethal in attack.

He said but it won't deter them from fulfilling their objective.

Sole said the fairytale semi-final finish of their rugby league team would inspire the side to win the encounter.

"It is going to be a big game and we know the Fijians will be tough," said Sole.

"But we are here to win as we are looking for a spot in the world and Oceania trophy championships next year."

The two players are calling on the Tongan supporters in Fiji to dress in red and cheer on the boys at the ground.

"We would appreciate to have the Tongans fans dressed in red and come out in huge numbers and support the team."

The match kicks off at 5pm with the second match to be held on Saturday.
