Am I getting charged too much for bank fees or foreign exchange rates ?

Before you decide to open a bank account you should get quotes from two or more banks so you can compare the fees they charge.

Remember if you are 55, some of the banks offer senior citizen accounts where many of the account keeping fees are waived.

If you are wanting a loan you should also compare loan application, approval, documentation, legal, lawyer outsource and monthly account keeping fees with each other to ensure that you are getting the cheapest deal and don't be afraid to ask for a discount as most lenders won't offer these discounts unless you ask or press them for it.

Also if you are sending money overseas don't be afraid to ask your bank or licensed foreign exchange dealer for a better exchange rate than their publicly advertised rate.

These exchange rates are routinely made better for customers, but only to those that ask for it.
