Fiji under-20 ready for Oceania rugby championship

THE Koli Sewabu-coached Vodafone Fiji under-20 team is psyched up for the match against Tonga in the Oceania Trophy Championship which kicks off at Churchill Park in Lautoka tomorrow.

The national side attended the church service at Saunaka Village yesterday.

Sewabu said it was important to attend the church service for the upbringing of the players.

"To be hosted by the chiefly village of Saunaka was very good," he said.

"It was a great opportunity for the players who come from different denominations.

"We have the games against Tonga coming up. The bottom line is that we have to win. It's taking pride in wearing the white jersey.

"The team has been training in the past three weeks. Even though the preparation has been short I believe we have done our best. It's been an exciting week with the Rugby League World Cup semi-finals so the boys are psyched up."

Fiji and Tonga are competing for the Oceania qualification to the 2018 World Rugby U20 Trophy Championship.

Fiji will be looking to replicate their results from 2016 which saw the team compete at the 2017 World Rugby U20s Trophy in August in Uruguay.

Tomorrow's match will kick off at 5pm. Tickets are selling at $5.

The next game will be played at Churchill Park on Saturday at the same time.
