Bai motivates Team Fiji

FORMER Flying Fijians Seremaia Bai reminded the Team Fiji athletes about the short span of sporting career and to wear the national team's jerseys with pride before handing it to someone else in future.

Bai was the guest speaker at the Team Fiji assembly at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday.

"Sports is very short time for any athletes and I always tell my academy boys that sporting career could be only for 10 years and there is another life after sports and you be mindful of that," he told the athletes.

"There are a lot of rugby players who are having a lot of stress as in Fiji we do not talk about stress and if there is someone who is stressed then they would go to the talatala to pray and get healed, but no it's not.

"There are a lot of responsibilities as with faith comes responsibilities so use that."

Bai said he was a high school dropout and he had worked hard for his family with a lot of courage and determination becoming one of the top rugby players in the country.

"You must not forget that you are representing your country and it is not Labasa, Suva, Rewa or Nadroga, it is our people's team," he motivated the players.

"You are only the caretakers of the jerseys so wear it with pride and make yourself proud and enjoy and when you leave and are done with the jerseys leave the jerseys with a better person."

Bai also asked the athletes to stand and say loud and clear "One nation, one dream, One nation, one dream, one dream, one nation... one dream, one team ... one team, one dream."
