THE youngest member of the Fiji Table Tennis squad to the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu, Vicky Wu, is bracing himself against tough challenges in Port Villa next month.

Wu, 12, said: "I am excited to play in the Pacific Mini Games," he said.

"It is special for me since it is the first games for me.

"It is going to be hard, but I will try to play well and win."

Wu, a Year 7 student of Yat Sen Primary School in Suva, started playing table tennis in 2014.

"I am learning a lot from the other players and Anothny Ho, who has been very supportive," he said.

"I believe table tennis is the safest sport compared to contact sports.

"It keeps me fit after taking up the sport when I was only eight years old."

The first batch of the Team Fiji athletes will depart on Friday.
