Lautoka in semi-finals

COURTS Inter District Championship winner Lautoka is through to today's Pacific Cup semi-finals in Auckland, New Zealand.

The Design Engineering-sponsored side defeated New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated Auckland All Stars 2-0 in the final group match at the Bill McKinley Park yesterday.

Christopher Wasasala scored for the Blues in the opening 10 minutes.

Striker Samuela Drudru sealed the win in the dying stages with a beautiful chip.

Lautoka recorded three wins and a draw which ensured them the top placing in the group.

The Kamal Swamy-coached team has not won the Pacific title before and stands a good chance of creating history with players such as Ilaitia Tuilau, Dave Radrigai, Siotama Kubu, Beniamino Mateinaqara, Kavaia Rawaqa, Iliesa Lino and Kolinio Sivoki in the squad. Auckland All Stars had the services of former Nadroga and Lautoka striker Mohammed Tasleem and former Navua goalkeeper Sheik Moshin.

New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated All Stars defeated New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated Northshore 4-0 to book their spot in the semi-finals.

In another result New Zealand Fiji Football Incorporated Manukau beat Australia Fiji Football Association Savusavu 1-0.

The final will be played at 3.30pm today.
