Western Zeniths defeated Capital Force 46-40 at Lawaqa Park yesterday to maintain their unbeaten run in the Digicel Punjas Netball Super League competition.

The win has cemented their spot in the final as they are on track to defend the title.

Fiji Pearls shooter Maliana Rusivakula was in top form for the Zeniths scoring some crucial goals to get her team into the final.

Her older sister and fellow national rep, Afa Rusivakula, was also impressive for the Force but her efforts were not enough to give her team the outcome they wanted.

Zeniths co-coach Iliseva Drasuna said her players were tested by a tough opponent and they delivered the goods in style to maintain their unbeaten run in the competition.

She said her players lifted their performance compared with last weekend to down the Force.

"Capital Force with the inclusion of Afa came up a better team but our girls really stepped up," said Drasuna.

"Even though we have few niggling injuries but the girls managed to hold on and win the contest."

She said the pressure was on the girls to maintain their winning form in the final.

Drasuna said there were still rooms for improvements and they needed to work hard in the final.

"The final is going to be tough because we will be target after our unbeaten round robin games. But I believe in the girls and we prepare well to defend our title."

National reps in the Zeniths side namely Maliana, Verenaisi Sawana, Alisi Galo and Laniana Naihamu superbly guided their young teammates to another fairytale finish.

Likewise for the Force, the services of national reps such as Afa, Asilika Seavula, Merelita Waqanidrola, Talei Waqainabete and coach/player Filo Korovulavula put up a brave fight but fell short off their target.

The final will be held in Lautoka on December 9.
