RICHARD Ting was on cloud nine after winning a four-night trip to Singapore with all expenses paid after breaking the world record by scoring 18 out of 20 marks in the Wolf Blass Wine Academy held at Westin Resort on Denarau Island.

Mr Ting who is the sales and marketing manager of Pan World Restaurant, Nadi's leading upmarket Chinese eatery will fly to Singapore to participate in the WSET Level 2 certification course which is the second step-up following the initial academy certification.

"I would like to thank Mr Bhupendra Patel and the entire team at Motibhai Group for all the hard work and co-ordination and for including us in this academy," Mr Ting said.

"This academy means a lot to all of us and I am sure we have learnt something good today — thanks to Mr Stuart Rusted and his company Treasury Wine Estates for sharing their vast wine knowledge with us today," Mr Ting added.

"I am very happy to have won the special trip to take this academy learnings to the next level but we all are winners in our own way today."

Meanwhile Temalesi Lutu of Nando's in Suva while delivering a special vote of thanks said she was fortunate to be part of the first ever Wolf Blass Wine Academy in the country.

"There is a story behind every bottle of wine — a story which helps us better understand what is inside the bottle and what food goes well with which particular wine," Ms Lutu said.

"The academy has actually armed us with a lot of confidence and I can proudly say that I now have the knowledge to stand in front of the customer and talk about the wine and what food pairing will suit them best," Ms Lutu added.

"Thank you for this holistic information with wine tasting which has been a real blessing for us today."
