7s dream, 15s battle

Our 7s team is on the verge of departing our shores to take part in the ever competitive Dubai 7s.

Two stars from the Fiji Airways Drua team have made the cut after impressing Gareth Baber. Eroni Sau and versatile captain John Stewart defied all odds to book a place in the 12-member squad to Dubai.

Listening to stories about their delight and joy to be part of the 7s team tells me that the upcoming tournament is going to be special for our boys. While the focus is on the 2107 RLWC, I am sure that the 7s fever will hit our shores soon. We last won the Dubai 7s under the coaching days of Ben Ryan who steered our boys in 2015 to beat the darlings of England. Can we repeat the heroics of 2015? Only time will tell! But for now, all the best boys and Baber! Let's show the world that we mean business!

On the other hand, our Flying Fijians take on Canada in what is going to be their last match on the Europe tour. McKee has pleaded with the Flying Fijians to get a win against the Canada to set the platform for the 2019 RWC.

Our boys put up a brave effort despite going down to the Joe Schmidt coached Irish side and there are a lot of positives that can be taken out of that match.

I know fans are upset with the team's loss to Italy and Ireland but this is the learning curve and losses are bound to occur.

As our boys prepare to front the Canadians, I must thank Fiji One for getting the game live to our doorsteps, unlike last week against Ireland when I had to update my friends via social media about the results. Go Fiji!
