FOR the past few days staff members and business associates of the Motibhai Group had a test run of the service and the food at their newest Burger King branch, which officially opens for business on Monday.

This is to ensure that the staff members are ready for the customers and for the smooth running of operations when the restaurant opens its doors to the public next week.

The $2 million outlet for Burger King is located along Edward St in Suva and employs 60 people.

Burger King Fiji director Tejash Patel said with the first restaurant for Suva City ready to open, they were working towards opening another Burger King in Nakasi by April next year.

Mr Patel said they would be employing about 75 staff members for their Nakasi restaurant, which would also feature drive-thru facilities.

"We have invested $2m in our Suva restaurant and the new Nakasi futuristic outlet will see further investment of $3m which will take our total investment in Suva to $5m in the next six months," said Mr Patel.

He said so far they had invested about $18m in the franchise, taking into account the freezer and cooler storage facility nearing completion at the new Motibhai Business Park in Nadi.

"One unique aspect of this new restaurant in Suva will be that it will be the first domestic store, apart from 'BK landside' at Nadi Airport, that will have draft beer on service.

"We are very fortunate to partner with Paradise Beverages on this service — they have been an excellent business partner and we look forward to offering the point of difference."

Burger King Fiji opened its first restaurant two years ago at the Nadi International Airport departures lounge and since then they have opened three outlets in Nadi.
