THE champion Lautoka Blues side is gunning for another piece of history during the Pacific Cup tournament in Auckland, New Zealand later this month.

Inspired by their Champions versus Champions, Vodafone National League and the Courts Inter-District Championship wins, the players are eager to add another title in their cabinet.

The side has not tasted success since the inception of the tournament. Lautoka Football Association president Abdul Kadar said the side commenced its preparation on Monday.

He said their ultimate goal was to win the top award.

"This is going to be a different ball game altogether and the boys have been urged to give their best," said Kadar.

"We will be up against some tough teams, therefore we need to work hard at training. Lautoka has only featured in the final, but this year we will try our best to win."

Kadar said the tournament would be also a good buildup for the team's O'League campaign.

"We cannot afford to commit unnecessary mistakes and the players are confident of a good outing."

Kadar thanked its Auckland-based sponsor - Ron's Motors for supporting the team in Auckland.

The team departs on November 22.
