Major threat

Emosi Balei, Suva
Thursday, November 09, 2017

WhilE I do not downplay the importance of the threats imposed by climate change and the COP23 meeting, I feel that the resources used in the Bonn meeting and associated works right now are being wasted.

The reason is that there is a much bigger peril, more threatening than climate change which governments and authorities worldwide have chosen to ignore.

This in my view is where the resources need to be targeted.

The impending doom posed by the intense exchanges between the USA, its allies and North Korea needs to be addressed immediately by any right-thinking government.

The current situation dictates that every effort must be directed towards diminishing the level of this threat.

Whilst climate change risks may have medium to long-term effect, if a war breaks out in the Korean peninsula, there would be no COP24.
