No credit

It has been widely announced that schoolchildren whose eticketing cards do not have credit are still to be allowed to travel on the bus and bus drivers are to allow them to travel

Mr Minister who is responsible for this eticketing thingy, I wish to draw your attention to what is happening on the ground.

Children who attend Nawaka District School and catch the bus from Vatutu Village are chased outside by the bus drivers because their cards do not have credit.

These poor children had to walk from Vatutu Village to Nawaka in the morning and back home in the afternoon because the drivers do not allow them to board the bus.

Nawaka is a densely populated area as it has two villages and numerous settlements.

Traffic is quite heavy in the mornings and in the afternoons and we have all these children walking to and from school along a road that does not have a proper footpath where the children can walk safely and where some drivers treat the road like it is the Grand Prix.

This is a fatality waiting to happen.

My question to you Mr Ministers is this, is there any way that the bus company responsible for servicing our area be penalised or fined for not doing what your ministry has promised to parents in Fiji on the issue of no credits in eticketing cards if we bring this to your attention in writing?
