The battle ahead

Cola vina!

We are preparing for what is ahead of us. Italy this week, which is going to be a huge step up in competition followed by a quarter-final game against a fellow Pacific brother in Tonga or New Zealand.

Takeaways —— Salesi Faingaa! What a find. This kid is a superstar in the making. A humble and down to earth human who bought our whole team to tears, it is even getting me welling up now thinking about the moment Wes Naiqama presented him (while fighting back tears also) with his representitive Test jersey. The feeling that goes through your body is one of extreme emotion. A jumble of sorts of which the only thing the body can do is cry tears of joy. Salesi moved us all on Sunday night with his gratitude obvious in his tears.

While still only a young pup, he certainly has all the attributes that will make him a handful in the NRL in the future. Strong, agile and powerful and he has played little footy over the past few years compared with some because of injury. Write the name down because if last Sunday was anything to go by this kid will go far. Keep your head down and work hard young brother.

Pots spoke to us about winning each contest. I feel as though we failed on some of these. The try they scored was my fault as I failed to stop an off-load, a contest which I should have won yet didn't. It's part of the game. You have to fail to learn, then learn fast! Like Will Smith said you have to fail forward. We are constantly looking for improvements that will better our team.

Short turnaround this week for both us and Italy. Really looking forward to playing against three of my Wyong Roos teammates this Friday. Punches will fly!

We are just landing in Brisbane for a three hour layover before the Canberra leg.

Once again thanks again everyone back home in Viti and Australia or whereever you are in the world. Everyone's support didn't go unnoticed.

Toso Viti toso
