AUSTRALIA 7s utility Matthew Hood will try to make his first trip to Fiji a memorable one by winning the Oceania 7s title this weekend at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Hood is one of the senior players in the team who is vying for a place in the Australian team for the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series which kicks off later this month in Dubai.

"It is my first time being here and I know it is going to be a tough competition," he said.

"We are looking forward to the challenge. It has been a fantastic buildup so far in our pre-season and we want to keep building the momentum to the world 7s series."

The side trained at the Albert Park under hot sun yesterday.

"We are working together and we might give some people something which they would not be expecting from us," he said.

"We will definitely take underdog's tag in the tournament as we are hungry and ready to go."
