FIJI Airways 7s coach Gareth Baber has named a strong squad to defend the Oceania 7s which kicks off on Friday at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.

Three Olympic Games gold medalists Jerry Tuwai, forward Apisai Domolailai and playmaker Vatemo Ravouvou are in the list.

Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer John O'Connor said fans could see some good rugby from the team.

"All players selected have shown a lot of progress during their training sessions in camp which proves their selection into the team," O'Connor said.

"I congratulate them on their selection and wish them all the best for the Oceania 7s this weekend."

Fiji has New Zealand and Australia to contain in the competition.

"The Fiji Rugby Union is excited the Oceania Rugby 7s Championship will get fans the opportunity, not only to watch their home side, but also teams from New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, the Cook Islands, Nauru, Tonga, the Solomon Islands, PNG, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, Tahiti and Samoa."

Fiji is pooled with Tonga and New Caledonia.
