A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR SOUTHERN LAU GROUP

Situation: A trough of low pressure just to the north of Vanua Levu

remains weak and slow moving. Associated cloud and showers affect the

northern parts of the country. Meanwhile, a high pressure system to

the southeast of Fiji continues to direct a fresh to strong east to

southeast wind flow over the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:

Strong southeast winds with average speeds of upto 45km/hr over

Southern Lau group with rough seas. Moderate southeast swells.

Elsewhere, moderate to fresh east to southeast winds with moderate to

rough seas. Moderate southeast swells.

Some showers and isolated thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and

nearby smaller islands.

Cloudy with some showers over the eastern parts and interior of the

other larger islands. Isolated heavy falls expected.

Elsewhere, fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and possible

thunderstorms.

Outlook for Wednesday : Some showers over the eastern parts and

interior of the larger islands. Afternoon or evening showers and

isolated thunderstorms elsewhere.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori :

Cloudy with some showers.

Outlook for Wednesday : Cloudy periods with some showers.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba :

Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers with possible

thunderstorms.

Outlook for Wednesday : Afternoon or evening showers and

thunderstorms.

For Labasa :

Showers and isolated thunderstorms especially in the afternoon or

evening.

Outlook for Wednesday : Afternoon or evening showers and

thunderstorms.

For Savusavu : Cloudy with some showers.

Outlook for Wednesday : Cloudy periods with some showers.

For Rotuma :

Situation: A trough of low pressure remains slow moving in the

vicinity of Rotuma. Associated cloud and showers affect the island.

Some showers and possible thunderstorms.

Moderate east to southeast winds, fresh at times.

Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Wednesday : Some showers.

SOUTHERN KORO SEAS, KADAVU AND VATU-I-RA PASSAGES.

Situation:

A trough of low pressure just to the north of Vanua Levu remains weak

and slow moving. Associated cloud and showers affect the northern

part of the country. Meanwhile, a high pressure system to the

southeast of Fiji continues to direct a fresh to strong east to

southeast wind flow over the group.

Forecast to 6am tomorrow for Fiji waters:

For Southern Lau Waters, southern Koro Sea, Kadavu and Vatu-i-Ra

Passages:

East to southeast winds 20 to 25 knots.

Rough seas.

Moderate southeast swells.

Further outlook: Easterly winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas. Moderate

southeast swells.

For the rest of Fiji Waters:

East to southeast winds 15 to 20 knots .

Moderate to rough seas. Moderate southeast swells.

Further outlook: Easterly winds 15 to 20 knots. Moderate to rough

seas. Moderate southeast swells.
