5.1 mag earthquake in PNG region

Update: 3:37PM A 5.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Papua New Guinea region this afternoon.

The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 109 kilometres at 1:28pm.

It was located 120km Northeast from Lae in PNG, 395km North northeast from Port Moresby, PNG, 1403Km northwest from Honiara, Solomon Islands and 3596km northwest from Suva, Fiji.

The Mineral Resources Department's Seismology Unit said the earthquake does not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji region
