Climate summit

Richard Abel,Suva.

I guess people have their own ideas of how the Government works and the COP23 move by our very own PM and delegates probably hit some of the nerves of some people who think our Government is not doing enough at home, and wondering off to chair such a big meet.

We should be glad that a very small nation like Fiji is up to the task of trying to solve a problem as big as climate change which is no small problem and needs a lot of effort as well as heads to get something going.

Anyway, I believe our Government is doing more than enough at home through various organisations, NGOs and what have you to keep our very own back yard clean, and honestly speaking, it's not Fiji's fault that the ozone layer was affected in the first place.

We are still too small a nation to have any such effect or threat on the ozone layer, but we as a nation would like for the bigger nations to take heed of the major gas emissions and factories, which is the real cause of all this damage.

So all in all, it's a start in the right direction for the Pacific Islands to put something on the table and be heard by larger nations on the effects it's having on the people of the South Pacific.

Come on guys, we need unity on this thing called climate change.

Vinaka God bless Fiji.
