A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF SOUTHERN LAU

AND LOMAIVITI GROUP.

Situation: A trough of low pressure remains slow moving over the

northern part of Fiji. Associated cloud and showers affect the

country. Meanwhile, a high pressure system to the southeast of Fiji

continues to direct a fresh to strong moist easterly wind flow over

the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:

Strong easterly winds with an average speed of upto 45 km/hr gusting

to 65km/hr over Southern Lau and Lomaiviti group with rough to very

rough seas. Moderate southeast swells.

Elsewhere, moderate to fresh easterly winds with moderate to rough

seas. Moderate southeast swells.

Occasional showers and few thunderstorms over Vanua Levu, Taveuni and

nearby smaller islands with isolated heavy falls. Showers easing

later today. Flooding of low lying areas possible.

Some showers over the eastern parts and interior of the other larger

islands.

Elsewhere, fine apart from afternoon or evening showers with possible

thunderstorms.

Outlook for Tuesday : Some showers over the eastern parts and

interior of the larger islands. Afternoon or evening showers and

isolated thunderstorms.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori :

Some showers.

Outlook for Tuesday : Cloudy periods with some showers.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba :

Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers with possible

thunderstorms.

Outlook for Tuesday : Afternoon or evening showers and

thunderstorms.

For Labasa :

Occasional showers and few thunderstorms. Showers easing later today.

Outlook for Tuesday : Afternoon or evening showers and

thunderstorms.

For Savusavu : Occasional showers and few thunderstorms. Showers

easing later today.

Outlook for Tuesday : Cloudy periods with some showers.

For Rotuma :

A trough of low pressure lies slow moving just south of Rotuma.

Associated cloud and showers affect the island.

Some showers and possible thunderstorms.

Moderate easterly winds, fresh at times.

Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Tuesday : Some showers.

SOUTHERN KORO SEAS, KADAVU AND VATU-I-RA PASSAGES.

Situation:

A trough of low pressure remains slow moving over the northern part

of Fiji. Associated cloud and showers affect the country. Meanwhile,

a high pressure system to the southeast of Fiji continues to direct a

fresh to strong moist easterly wind flow over the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for Fiji waters:

For Southern Lau Waters, southern Koro Sea, Kadavu and Vatu-i-Ra

Passages:

East to southeast winds 20 to 30 knots. Winds gusty at times.

Rough to very rough seas.

Moderate southeast swells.

Further outlook: Easterly winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas Moderate

southeasterly swells.

For the rest of Fiji Waters:

East to southeast winds 15 to 20 knots .

Moderate to rough seas. Moderate southeast swells.

Further outlook: Easterly winds 15 to 20 knots. Moderate to rough

seas. Moderate southeast swells.
