A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF SOUTHERN

LAU.

Situation: A trough of low pressure lies slow moving over the

southern part of Fiji. Associated cloud and showers affect the

country. Meanwhile, a high pressure system to the south of Fiji

directs a fresh to strong moist easterly wind flow over the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group:

Over Southern Lau:

Over Land: Strong easterly winds with average speed up to 45 km/hr.

Winds gusty at times.

Over Waters: Easterly winds 20 to 30 knots. Winds gusty at times.

Rough to very rough seas.

Occasional showers. Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorms expected.

Showers easing later today. Moderate southeast swells.

For the rest of Fiji:

Occasional showers over the southern half of Viti Levu, Kadavu, Lau

and Lomaiviti group, the eastern parts and interior of the other

larger islands. Isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls expected.

Showers easing later today.

Elsewhere, fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and isolated

thunderstorms.

Moderate to fresh east to southeast winds. Winds gusty at times.

Moderate to rough seas.

Moderate southeast swells.

Outlook for Monday : Some showers over the eastern parts and

interior of the larger islands. Afternoon or evening showers and

isolated thunderstorms.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori :

Occasional showers. Isolated thunderstorms and heavy falls expected.

Showers easing later tomorrow.

Outlook for Monday : Cloudy periods with some showers.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba :

Showers especially in the afternoon or evening with isolated

thunderstorms.

Outlook for Monday : Afternoon or evening showers and

thunderstorms.

For Labasa :

Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms.

Outlook for Monday : Possible afternoon or evening showers and

isolated thunderstorms.

For Savusavu : Occasional showers. Isolated thunderstorms and heavy

falls expected. Showers easing later tomorrow.

Outlook for Monday : Cloudy periods with some showers.

For Rotuma :

A trough of low pressure with associated cloud and showers affects

Rotuma.

Occasional showers, heavy at times and few thunderstorms.

Moderate easterly winds, fresh at times.

Moderate to rough seas.

Outlook for Monday : Some showers.

high pressure system to the south of Fiji directs a fresh to strong

moist easterly wind flow over the group.

Forecast to 6am tomorrow for Fiji waters:

For Southern Lau Waters, southern Koro Sea, Kadavu and Vatu-i-Ra

Passages:

East to southeast winds 20 to 30 knots. Winds gusty at times.

Rough to very rough seas.

Moderate southeasterly swells.

Further outlook: Easterly winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas Moderate

southeasterly swells.

For the rest of Fiji Waters:

East to southeast winds 15 to 20 knots .

Moderate to rough seas. Moderate southeasterly swells.

Further outlook: Easterly winds 15 to 20 knots. Moderate to rough

seas. Moderate southeasterly swells.
