Flying Fijians train in France for Test series

FIJI Airways Flying Fijians coach John McKee said defence and discipline would be important in their game plans in the November Test series.

"We conceded too many penalties in the June / July Test windows and we have identified around 50 per cent of those penalties as being avoidable. To be successful in Test matches, we need to reduce our penalties conceded," McKee said from France.

He said their set-play needed to be very effective against Italy.

"We have maximised the benefits from our three days. We are set up to hit the ground running next week. Italy will be a tough opponent at home. They will try and use their strength at scrum and mauls."

He said they had released their Europe-based players and they would join camp on Sunday evening.

"Under World Rugby Regulation 9 the professional players are only available to us for three days this week and must return to their clubs. Not ideal but these are the regulations," he said.

Fiji plays Italy next week, then Ireland and ends the tour with a match against Canada.
