THE Fiji Primary Schools' Athletics Association is calling on parents to come and support their children during the 2017 Chow Games next week.

The games will be played in three different divisions around the country.

FPSAA media co-ordinator Eugene Vollmer in a statement said the competition would start off with the Northern Zone on November 10-11 at Subrail Park in Labasa.

"FPSAA objective envisages a future where athletics will be the foundation sporting activity of choice for all primary school children in Fiji," the media release read.

"FPSAA's mission is to provide a co-ordinated and transparent pathway for the development of athletic skills for young athletes, coaches and officials in an enjoyable, friendly environment.

"The 2017 FMF Chow Games is a much awaited event for the young athletes.

"In this regard, the organisers are requesting schools, parents and communities to come out in numbers to give every encouragement and support to our future leaders."

Vollmer said the competition was important as it would be the students driving in the future.

"Fiji Primary Schools' Athletics Association is preparing in full for the annual divisional competition — the FMF Chow Games.

The message from FMF Foods group marketing manager, Poonam Kartika to the athletes, was one of encouraging healthy competition while striving to do their ultimate best.

"She also adds that the Divisional Chow Games is not about just bringing competition to the field, it also brings the families and communities from the division to the field to show their support to these young talented students who are the future leaders of our country."

FMF Foods has sponsored the event for $80,000.

The competition for the Western Division will be held from November 17-18 at Churchill Park in Lautoka while the competition will be held on the same date at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
