Event hailed a success

MORE than 30 business executives gathered at the Ports O'Call restaurant at the Sheraton Fiji Resort on Wednesday for the annual Dog Point wine tasting dinner.

Dog Point Vineyard is owned by Margaret and Ivan Sutherland and Wendy and James Healy and is based in Malborough, New Zealand.

Wednesday marked the fourth year the couple have held wine tasting events in the country.

The wine is distributed locally by Motibhai Group of Companies. The two companies have collaborated for about 10 years.

Mrs Sutherland said they only made four wines which included the Sauvignon Blanc, Section 94, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

"We have come for four executive years and we are very enthusiastic and everyone's developing a love for wine which is great to see," she said.

"We are organic winery and we don't want to ever be a big winery.

"We used to come for holiday and Motibhai Group had shown interest in distributing our wine 10 years ago and our relationship has developed from then."

Guests were provided the opportunity to discover the estate wines skillfully paired with a sumptuous degustation menu from Sheraton Fiji's executive chef Prabhat Prawin.

Mr Prawin said they had received confirmation on the event over a month ago and worked hard for two days to ensure the dinner went smoothly.

"We're particularly happy everyone's enjoyed their evening," he said.

"This is two signature brands working together and I hope we can achieve more great things in the future."
