A STRONG WIND WARNING REMAINS IN FORCE FOR LAND AREAS OF SOUTHERN LAU.

Situation: A high pressure system to the south of Fiji directs a fresh to strong easterly wind flow over the group.

Forecast to midnight tonight for the Fiji group: Over Southern Lau: Over Land: Strong easterly winds with average speed up to 55 km/hr. Cloudy periods with brief showers.

Over Waters: Easterly winds 20 to 30 knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate southeast swells.

For the rest of Fiji: Cloudy periods with some showers over the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands. Elsewhere, fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms. Moderate to fresh easterly winds. Moderate to rough seas. Moderate southeast swells.

Outlook for Saturday : Some showers over the eastern parts and interior of the larger islands. Afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms.

For Navua / Suva / Nausori : Cloudy periods with some showers. Outlook for Saturday : Some showers.

For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba : Fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms. Outlook for Saturday : Afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms.

For Labasa : Fine apart from possible afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms. Outlook for Saturday : Possible afternoon or evening showers and isolated thunderstorms.

For Savusavu : Cloudy periods with some showers. Outlook for Saturday : Some showers.

For Rotuma : Fine apart from brief showers. Moderate easterly winds, fresh at times. Moderate to rough seas. Outlook for Saturday : Brief showers.

Situation: A high pressure system to the south of Fiji directs a fresh to strong easterly wind flow over the group.

Forecast to 6am tomorrow for Fiji waters: For Southern Lau Waters, Kadavu and Vatu-i-ra Passages: Easterly winds 20 to 30 knots. Rough to very rough seas. Moderate southeasterly swells.

Further outlook: Easterly winds 20 to 25 knots. Rough seas Moderate southeasterly swells.

For the rest of Fiji Waters: Easterly winds 15 to 20 knots.Moderate to rough seas. Moderate southeasterly swells.

Further outlook: Easterly winds 15 to 20 knots. Moderate to rough seas. Moderate southeasterly swells.
