PIO Seci's journey in the Rugby League World Cup is getting more challenging than most players after he was admitted for an injury for 24 hours at the Townsville Hospital.

Seci's left shin swelled after it got stepped on during Monday's training session causing him so much pain on Tuesday when he got admitted to the hospital.

Yesterday, former Vodafone Fiji Bati manager Salesi Koroi and some members of the Fijian community visited Seci at the hospital.

"You've got this OB (old boy), when every human effort fails, it is only God that can work miraculously to heal you.

"You are the only local boy in the team, you have worked so hard and so long for this and you can show the world what the local boys can produce.

"You have to believe in God and have faith that he will heal you."

Seci was emotional as his former teacher from Queen Victoria School encouraged and prayed for him.

Koroi taught three current Fiji Bati players -- Viliame Kikau, Tui Kamikamica and Seci.

Seci was admitted in the short stay ward and some patients found it "entertaining" to see the group of Fijians that had come to visit him.

He was discharged and would recover at his aunt, Rene Goodwin's house.

"We feel for him but I would certainly make fish and lolo for him and I think he is looking forward to that," she said.

Seci was part of the 21-member team announced by the Fiji Bati camp. That list will be reduced to 19 names tomorrow and eventually 17 an hour before the match against Wales on Sunday.

He has yet to play a game for Fiji though he has been looking good during training sessions.
