TOP bowlers will be out to impress national selectors for a place in the national team in the Five Squares-sponsored Banana Cup which will be played at the Suva Bowling Club greens later this month.

Competition official Samuela Tui said they would get to see some good bowling from the bowlers.

"We are expecting a big number because everyone is vying for a place in the national team for the Commonwealth Games next year in Australia," he said.

"The trials are coming up and the bowlers want to be at their best and show their skills, fitness and impress the selectors so they can represent the country.

"Some of the top bowlers who will be competing are Ratish Lal, Arun Kumar, Abdul Kalim, Rajnesh Prasad and Kushal Pillay."

Tui said he was impressed with upcoming bowler Zaynal Mohammed from Lautoka.

"He has shown a lot of promise. He has been consistent in the last national competition where he had been in the top four."

The tournament will be played from November 18-19.
