FIJI Airways Fijiana 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula, says it will be good to be tested by top teams such as Australia and New Zealand in the Oceania 7s Championship ahead of the start of the 2017/2018 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series.

The Fijiana returned home on Monday after playing in the Central Coast 7s in Sydney last weekend.

The side won the plate beating Sunnybanks 24-7 in a tough plate final in Australia.

Tanivula said: "We gave a few new girls a break and that's what we needed to do with the big season coming up".

"We tested them to see where they are. It is always good to have a couple of games under your belt and we hope there will be more to come before the world 7s series."

The players are expected to return to camp this afternoon after returning home.

"The Oceania 7s Championship is coming up and we will be working on our weak areas from the Central Coast 7s.

"We are lucky to have the best two teams in the world, Australia and New Zealand playing on our back yard. It is good to be tested among the best and it is always a challenge."
