NATIONAL weightlifting coach Joe Vueti is impressed with the four weight-lifters who started their Pacific Mini Games preparation at the National Fitness Centre at Laucala Bay, Suva, on Monday.

Weight-lifters Manueli Tulo, Apolonia Vaivai, Puamau Qaqa and Taniela Rainibogi had gruelling sessions during their training sessions this week.

"It was our first training together in Suva and it is looking very good," Vueti said.

"The weight-lifters got the power, strength and everything in them," Vueti said.

"The only thing I have to monitor is the fitness and the endurance and we will achieve them within a couple of weeks.

"The weight-lifters should be ready to deliver come the Pacific Mini Games in December."

Vueti said the weight-lifters had set their eyes on the gold medals.

"They are our four top weight-lifters in Fiji and only Eileen Cikamatana is missing from the team because she is training in Noumea, New Caledonia after which she will go to Vanuatu to compete in the Pacific Mini Games,.

"In the boys, we have Manueli Tulo, Puamau Qaqa and Taniela Rainibogi while in the women's category, we have Apolonia Vaivai and Eileen Cikamatana. They are improving a lot with their lifts and the only thing I have to work on is their fitness level."

The Pacific Mini Games will be held from December 4-15.
