Injury worries for Bati

UPON the completion of the first round at the RLWC, the Fiji Bati is counting the cost of the win against the USA Hawks.

First it was Korbin Sims and then Kane Evans, who had to be taken to hospital and would have to undergo a surgery on his arm.

The injuries to Sims and Evans may be seen as a dent on our title aspirations, but I am sure Potter has some tricks up his sleeves.

The first round of matches were a physical affair, brutal tackles, sweat, tears and passion.

Seeing Toa Samoa, Australia, Tonga, England and NZ sides play, I was impressed with the fact that the players wore their jerseys with pride. Now I look forward to a mouth-watering weekend when the second round of matches will kick start a fiery battle.

On the other hand, the Drua side has been penciled against Queensland Country, which boosts the services of Naubuli and Daugunu and a fired up team which spoilt our winning run at home.

The Drua side faces a mammoth task against the home side and Seruvakula will need to name his best 15 to face the second placed Country outfit.

Down 0-29 our boys came out firing and fans were counting their lucky stars, but some wrong options and bang, Queensland Country tore us apart.

Queensland Country came to Fiji and defeated us on our home turf. I challenge our Flying Fijians to give the favourites a taste of their own medicine. Let's go out there and strut our Fijian flair and show the hosts we mean business.

In Australia during the final of the Central Coast 7s, our 7s team tasted defeat for the third consecutive time to the Aussies.

The loss should be an eye-opener for Baber as he prepares for the Oceania 7s. As I conclude, I wish our Year 12 students all the best for their English paper and the rest of their papers.
