MOHAMMED Rizwan won the 2017 RC Manubhai Suva Open title at the Fiji Golf Club on Sunday.

The 31-year-old BRED Bank finance officer won his first major title after he scored four over par 148 in the 36 holes championship.

"I was prepared to win the title since I played on my home soil and I was looking forward to my first open win," he said.

"Winning on the home soil was an added boost for me and I really got the feeling of winning the open tournament finally and it has not really sunk in well yet. It was a good experience and I look forward to win more tournaments."

He said the competition was tough.

"I have been in the sport for the past nine years and I am also in the national training squad," he added.

"The competition was tough with number of good golfers who competed from Suva and western side as well."
