OLYMPIAN Winston Hill was in top form after beating Epeli Cokanasiga in the local amateur bout at the Raiwai Youth Hall in Suva on Saturday.

Hill is Fiji's top gold medal prospect in the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in December.

"The boxers have been divided into A team and B team and we will compete to bring out the best in us and to get back into the ring and get off the ring rust," Hill said.

"We are facing the best in the country and it is the best way to develop and improve on our craft.

"Able Cokanasiga fights in the 75 kilograms division of the B team.

"In the 2015 Pacific Games I came short of the gold losing to New Caledonia, but since then I have improved."

Representing Fiji in the Pacific Mini Games are Nemani Rokobuli, Eroni Ligaloa, Epeli Cokanasiga, Josefa Ravudi, Jone Koroilagilagi, Pauliasi Ratu, and Hill.

Fiji amateur boxing assistant coach Oscar Nanovu said the boxers were sweating hard in the training session.

"We are doing well in the training," he said.

"Some of the boxers would join the camp on Monday because they are not able to get their release letter from their work."

The Pacific Mini Games will be held in Vanuatu from December 4-15.
