MID Central Chip women's volleyball team is advocating on violence against women during the Fiji Volleyball inter-club at the National Netball Centre on Saturday.

Captain Temalesi Talei said with the support of Fiji Women's Crisis centre they were able to have a new set of uniform to help them compete in the competition.

"Our aim is to advocate on the issue that women face nowadays where they get beaten up and pushed away from their families ending up on the street and what we're trying to tell our fellow players is that we must protect our women no matter what the circumstances," she said.

"We use volleyball as a way to share our experience on how we can work together and stop violence against women and young girls.

"With two wins we're happy with our performance despite the weather condition we still managed to win and we hope to get more good results in today's competition. We don't have any national rep in the team but with the experience and skills wise we have faith in God that he will lead us through in our left over games."

A total of 10 women and 24 men's teams participated in the two-day Fiji volleyball inter-club championship.
