Praise for Fiji 7s players

Sunday, October 29, 2017

FIJIAN players are the world's best 7s players, says UON Central Coast 7s tournament organiser Craig Morgan.

He said the presence of some top Fijian 7s players such as Pio Tuwai, Jerry Tuwai, Vatemo Ravouvou, Apisai Domolailai and the other Fijian boys in this weekend's Central Coast 7s would lift the standard of the competition to another level.

Olympics rugby 7s gold medallists Jerry Tuwai, Ravouvou and Domolailai will feature for the Fiji Airways Barbarians 7s team while Pio Tuwai to play for the Stallions Invitational.

Other Fijian participating teams include Uluinakau, Tabadamu and Island Breeze.

Morgan said Pio Tuwai would be one of this year's tournament favourite players.

"Fiji are the world's best they have an impact wherever they go with experienced and such depth of new talent," he said.

"Pio Tuwai is a tournament favourite with his strong running and exciting off-load abilities."

He said the organisers were pleased to have the Fiji Barbarians and the Fijiana side for this year's event.

Morgan said these two Fijian sides would get the best exposure and test to prepare themselves for the upcoming HSBC World Sevens Rugby Series.

"We are excited to welcome the Fiji Barbarians and Fijiana to the UON Central Coast Sevens where we hope that they will face the level of competition they require to prepare for the World Series. "

"We have seen a number of the team here before and it is a great compliment that the teams and coaching staff value the tournament so highly to utilise us in their preparation," he added.

The Fiji Barbarians side is expected to face tough competition against the Australia 7s team and the Australia Development side
