ORCA Swim Club is banking on their young swimmers James Kado and Hefu Erasito to win more medals when they go in to the finals of the Short Course Regional Championship today.

Manager Milly Kado said with their recent international trip to compete in the New Zealand short course championship a few weeks ago would boost their performance in their respective events.

"We have 10 swimmers competing in this tournament which is a good training ground for our swimmers since we are new club," she said.

"We have more swimmers who are in under the age of 11,12 and 13 to 15 and our two key swimmers who will help boost the younger swimmers in their performance.

"This is a buildup to the Junior PAN Pacific Games next year where we have potential swimmers in our club who might qualify but it all depends on how well they do from now until then.

"We came out with 14 gold medals which is a good start for us and hats off to 14 year old Hefu Erasito who broke four records so he is done very well."

Kado said as they prepared for the Commonwealth Games and Pacific Games her expectations from the swimmers remains the same.

"In terms of the Commonwealth games James Kado is our best swimmer who will try to qualify and make it to the national squad."
