Dismal soccer

Suresh Chand, Nadi
Saturday, October 28, 2017

A FEW years of dismal performance, this year the Men in Black achieved something for their fans.

Ba ended this season with two runner-up prizes for the IDC and the National League. On both occasions, it was Lautoka that took the first honour.

The neighbours will play in the OFC championship. Lautoka built a formidable team which grabbed the 2017 Courts IDC and Vodafone National League, leaving Ba in second place.

Ba can build up from where they left off in 2017 and come out strong next year. I think officials should rope in more youth players in the side as they did before. I believe a mixture of new and experienced players enhance a team's strength and energy.

It is always good to keep introducing new talents to maintain a balance in the team. We all know a time comes when old horses have to be retired. Let's hope all the teams come more thoroughly prepared so that fans find pleasure watching the competitions in the new season. Please let us also witness our national side in action.

Before I conclude, I would like to thank the spectators for their unwavering support for soccer which is loved by millions across the globe. May next season be more entertaining and lively.
