Fiji's RLWC opener against the Hawks

The Fiji Bati versus United States Hawks clash at Townsville Stadium is bound to attract a huge crowd.

The Fiji Bati are beaming with confidence that the squad they have is going to get the job done and is laced with NRL talent including Hayne, who last played for Fiji at the 2008 RLWC and will represent Fiji after a nine-year absence.

Coach Mick Potter has been working hard to get the combinations click and despite some work needed, the team looks happy and confident.

The Hawks have named a strong side and coach McDermotte believes that the match is going to be about timing and working game day systems than match fitness. He challenged his stars to give 100 per cent of their ability in all the games.

Despite the fact that the Fiji Bati is ranked a couple of places higher than the USA Hawks, and has the benefit of NRL players on its roster, our boys will need the Midas touch and put on a good show.

The USA Hawks shocked many at the 2013 RLWC by making it to the quarter-finals, so the Hawks can never be underestimated.

This has been a transitional year for the Hawks and they will be out to create an upset. Rugby fans have predicted the two-time semi-finalist Fiji to win, but the battle is going to be tough.

After earlier losses to Tonga, the Kumuls and Kangaroos, our flying and magical warriors need to make their presence felt during 80 minutes of high intensity and drama and rugby league at its best.

We are dying to see those hard hits, bulldozing runs and beautiful tries. The eight-page insert on an indepth coverage of the RLWC has been presented by our number one sporting team, The Fiji Times and Elenoa Baselala.

The exclusive coverage has definitely set the platform for bigger things to unfold. As we wait for the match to be shown on Fiji One, let us wear our traditional colour and support the Fiji Bati in our prayers.

I conclude with the words of Akuila Uate that "with our faith and devotion, with God, everything is possible".

All the best boys! Let's start this year's campaign with a bang and a great victory. The nation is united in our quest to get home the cup as Korbin Sims rightly said "Noqu Kalou, Noqu Vanua"!
